. — ! CRICKET ; Playing in the City and Suburban cricket competition at Lyttelton on i Saturday afternoon, the Lyttelton Min--1 iature Rifle Club's A team defeated Opawa by 147 runs to 111. Playing at St. Albans Park on Saluri day, the Lyttelton Club team defeated Carlton by 69 runs to 57. For the win--1 ners. N. Blair made 30 runs and L. Gosncy took eight wickets for 10 runs. j Golf. The final round for the colts' trophy was played at Diamond Harbour on Saturday, and resulted in a win for B. H. Gilmour, with a net score of 146 for the two rounds. Yesterday the final of the junior championship was played betyeen H. J. Beck and A. G. Sinclair, the former winning 6 up and 5. A mixed four-ball bogey match was played at Charteris Bay yesterday for trophies presented by the club social committee. The best cards were H. Derbidge and Miss W. White-Par-sons 2 up, H. Donald and Mrs H. E. Ayers 2 up, D. It. Wallace and Miss C Williams all square. P. Plimmer and Miss M. Williams all square, C. Collins and Miss E. Ayers 2 down. K. Gower and Mrs H. G. Barmaid 3 down. F Knights and L. Gower 3 down, B. Judge and Miss B. Bowling 4 down, M. L. Page and Miss P. Plimmer 4 down. H. E. Ayers and Miss R. Sutcliffe 6 down. Jn the final round for the Armstrong Cup. played at Charteris Bay yesterday. L. Gower and M. L. Page defeated F. Knights and H. Ayers, 1 up. Dances. The Lyttelton Ladies' Hockey Club held a flannel dance in the Excelsior Hall on Saturday evening. There was a moderate attendance. Music was provided by the Herdman-Fisk orchestra, and novelties were held. There was a good attendance of active and honorary members of the Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade at * a social and dance held in the brigade's social room on Saturday night. Dance music was supplied by Mr Jack Wyatt.
