Algar was arrested on board the Wanganella. The court made an order that the defendant should be handed over to custody for return to New Zealand. [lt was reported from Sydney on October 4 that the water police boarded the WanganeUa in the harbour and arrested a passenger who was alleged to be an official in a shipping office in New Zealand, on a charge of stealing £143.
