IMPROVEMENT IN STEEL TRADE
PRODUCTION HIGHER THAN LAST YEAR DECREASE IN SHEFFIELD UNEMPLOYED (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) (Received October 4, 7.10 p.m.) RUGBY, October 3. The Master Cutler of Sheffield, Mr C. J. Walsh, stated to-day that since the beginning of the year a gradual but definite improvement in the steel trade had taken place. Sheffield, he said, was producing much more steel than before the war, and about 27,000 tons a month more than last year. Sheffield unemployed had decreased by 10,000 in the last 12 months.
