NAVAL VOLUNTEER RESERVE

Apart from the regular drills, the chief work of the members of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (Canterbury Division) during September was the painting and refitting of the cutter Deveroh and the two whalers attached to the division. Parties of three officers and 10 meli were engaged on this work each Saturday afternoon, and they expect to finish it by the third week of this month. In the two Sub-divisions of the reserve the average attendance at drills was 51 45 men respectively. During the month much time was spent in routine work connected with recruiting.
