POLICE RAID PREMISES
GAMING SUSPECTED (PHfcSS ASBOCUKON MLSGIUM.) WELLINGTON, October 4. A well-Organised raid was carried out by the police this afternoon upon 16 Chinese premises in Haining, Taranaki, and Vivian streets, in which it was inspected pakapoo war. being played, aiid 43 arrests were made. The raid was carried out with military precision by a force of three sergeants and 30 constables under Senior-Ser-geant D. Scott. The arrested men were all bailed out to-night, and to-morrow 16 Chinese will appear before the court charged with being the keepers of, common gaming houses, and 22 Europeans and five Chinese will answer charges of being found unlawfully on premises used for naming.
