REFUGEES FROM GERMANY
SOME TO BE. SETTLED IN PALESTINE FRIENDLY ARRANGEMENT IN BERLIN (UNITED rKBB9 ASSOCIATION'— BT SLICTBIO tsleqraph—coryEiGirr.) (Received October 3, 5.5 p.m.) GENEVA, October 2. During the discussion on the Palestine mandate in a committee, the Norwegian delegate suggested that it was appropriate that the Mandate Commission should consider Jewish refugees from Germany in relation to the successful Jewish settlement of Palestine. Mr W. Ormsby-Gore (Great Britain) said that Palestine could not be the sole effective solution of the German refugees' problem. Allocation of Jewish settlers to Palestine were being dealt with by friendly arrangement between the English and German authorities in Berlin. The Assembly of the League, without discussion, referred the earlier Dutch motion regarding the refugees to a second committee which deals with economic subjects, and also to the budget committee, to consider the expenditure involved. Germany abstained from voting.
