COMMUNITY SINGING
RESUMPTION YESTERDAY Probably owing to the break in the continuity of the community singing sessions at the Civic Theatre last week, owing to the decorators being in possession, the attendance yesterday was not so large as is customary, but nevertheless there was no lack of enthusiasm. Some of the songs had reference to the recent by-election for the Lyttelton seat, an appropriate verse for each candidate being sung. The visit, of H.M.A.S. Canberra was also suitably recognised.. Mr Alan Brown wasS song leader and Dr. F. C. A'Court was at the piano. The proceeds, which go to the Mayor's Relief of Distress Fund, amounted to £2B 14s 7d.
