I .. .... I— . CANTERBURY AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP J. Martin (Pioneer Club), holder of the Canterbury amateur billiards championship, defeated W. Karaitiana (Kaiapoi Working Men's Club) by 500-425 last night in the fifth game in the Canterbury amateur billiards championship held at the Christchurch working Men's Club. The game was for the main part interesting, the spectators frequently applauding good shots by both players. Martin made breaks °l ?!• tl' 3 35 > 21 > 49 > and Karaitiana I of 46, 22, 29. The sixth game will be played on Monday in the Returned Soldiers' Association rooms between Bugg /Postmen's Social Club) and Kett (Christchurch Working Men's Club).
