GIFT TO SANATORIUM PATIENTS
BOOKS FROM MR H. G. ELL On the occasion of a concert at the Sanatorium, Mr Harris, president of the Sanatorium Service Society, formally presented the patients with eight bound volumes of "The Illustrated London News," which had been given by Mr Ell Mr Harris spoke briefly of the society and its work, and said ihat though much had been done for the benefit of Sanatorium patients, the society had not been able to do as much as it would have liked, because it was not as widely known as it might be, and hence not extensively supported. He also paid a tribute to the good work of the matron of the sanatorium, in whom, he said, the patients had a real qyeen. Mr Harris, speaking of the gift, praised the work of two unemployed men of Cashmere Hills who, skilled in bookbinding, had put their time and talents to good account, and had handsomely bound the books jp. Morocco. It was hoped, he went on, that they would be instrumental in cheering many a long and weary hour for the patients. After asking Mr Mcßride to accept the volumes on behalf of the patients, he moved a vote of thanks to the donor, which was carried with hearty acclamation. Mr Mcßride, president of the Sanatorium Social Committee, thanked Mr Harris on behalf of the patients, 4 who showed their appreciation with applause.
