"Ihe number of sickness cases is giowing: I never remember the relief committee having to deal with so many sickness cases," said Mr G. Petherick at a meeting of the Wellington Hospital Board. He stated that in the last five weeks the committee had to deal with 402 cases of sickness in respect to which treatment and help was asked. Mr Petherick said that the separation cases were gradually mounting up—they had numbered 176 in the same period. Although it was true that the relief committee's expenditure was £IOOO below the estimate, the committee's first consideration was those who were m need.
