At Government House, Auckland, this week their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe entertained the social workers of Auckland at an enjoyable afternoon reception. Mrs J. D. Orrnond (Wallingford, Hawke's Bay), who has been visiting Christchurch, left yesterday to stay with Mrs George Dcnnistoun, Peel Forest. She will leave on her return to the North Island on Friday. Mr and Mrs John Montgomery (Fendalton) have returned from a visit to Marlborough. Mrs A.' J. Carr (Picton), avlio attended the Dominion conference of the Women's Institutes, is the of Mrs D. E. Hansen, Opavva. She will return to Picton on Wednesday. Mr and Mrs Arthur (Surrey Hills, Eiffelton) and Mr and Mrs Stewart Heard (Kaikoura) vill be the guests of Mrs J. Cracroft Wilson, Cashmere House, for Grand National Week. Mrs Cyril Williams (Atua, Hawke's Bay), who has been visiting Christchurch, left yesterday for Timaru, where she will be the guest of Mrs Hope. She will return to Christchurch on Thursday, and leave for the north on Friday. Mr and Mrs Maxwell Deans ("Kilmarnock," North Canterbury) will be the guests of Mrs Deans, Riccarton House, during Grand National Week. Mr and Mrs Derek Studholme (Coldstream) and Miss Eileen Crawford will be the guests of Mrs John Studholme, Middleton Grange, during Grand National week. Mrs Lorimer (Plimmerton), who has been in Christchurch for the conference of Women's Institutes, will leave for the north to-night. Miss E. Overton (Hereford street west) has returned from a visit to Otira. Mr and Mrs Crespin and daughter, who have been spending a short holiday with Mrs G. F. Howard (Oxford), have returned to their home in Riccarton. Misses Nancy and Patricia Grigg ("Meadow Bank," Blenheim) will be the guests of Mrs J. Cracroft Wilson, Cashmere House, for the race week gaieties. Mrs Arthur Elworthy (Timaru) is visiting her daughter, Mrs Derrick Gould, Fendalton. Mrs James Maling (Durham street north), who is visiting relatives in Auckland, will return to Christchui'ch next week.
