COMBINED ORPHANAGES' RADIO CONCERT.
A programme of an exceptionally high standard is to be broadcast from station 3YA next Wednesday evening in aid of the funds of the combined Methodist, Anglican, and Presbyterian Orphanages. Radio listeners are invited to arrange radio evenings in their homes for the double purpose of enjoying the broadcast programme and to take up a collection in aid of the bread bill of the combined orphanages. In common with other social organisations the orphanages are experiencing difficulty in maintaining the splendid work they are doing, and it is hoped that as a result of the radio evening there will be a substantial amount raised for each of the homes. iJ^W?" includes items by the Christchurch Cathedral choir—men and boys; a humorous dramatic selection by Professor J. Shelleysongs by Misses Frances Hamerton Huh Jr 1V r ei \ new " k »«on and Messrs Hubert Carter and Rex Harrison. Mr F. A. Fox, the well-known champion n?n- v IU al !° e T two solosTMr H. McD. Vincent will give a humorpus elocutionary item. A feature of the evenings programme will be a community sing conducted bv Mr Alan Brown and Dr. A'Court Members of the .Optimists* Club and Knox Church choir will be at the studio to assist m the community sing Special envelopes have been orinted for the taking of the colllction and those who have not already received one are asked to communicate with the honorary secretary Mr A C S Gibbs, Church House, 173 "cashei street.
