PIONEER SPORTS CLUB. FIXTURES. July 29—Annual general meeting. August 3—Social and presentation of prizes. The fifty-fifth annual general meeting of members of the Pioneer Sports Club will be held at the club rooms to-morrow at 7.30 p.m. In reviewing the club's activities the report states that during the year the motor section provided a series of interesting sporting competitions, including reliability and sporting trials, beach races, hill climbing championships, miniature tourist trophy racing, and a grass track meeting at Ashburton in conjunction with the local club. They were efficiently controlled, and successful. The prizes won during the season will be presented at a social evening to be held n the club rooms on Thursday, August 3, at 8 o'clock. Among those who are expected to be present at the annual general meeting to-morrow evening is one of the founders of the club in 187f>, MrThomas Searell, who has not only retained his membership throughout, but has been one of the leading lights in the club's history, both as a competitor, and as an executive officer, and at the present time he holds the position of vice-captain, a position occupied by him about 50 years ago. Mr Searell retains his enthusiasm and vim in all matters pertaining to the club. Auto-Cycle Union. At the annual conference of the Auto-Cycle Union, at Auckland on August 7, one of the remits to be considered is the following from the Ixiou Motor-Cycle Club (Wellington): "That the method of selecting a New Zealand representative to the Tourist Trophy races be reconsidered for the following reasons, (1) the venue of the New Zealand Tourist Trophy races is so inaccessible to any but Auckland Provincial riders as to preclude the possibility of others competing; (2) the course does not provide a conclusive test of riding ability. That while this club lauds the enterprise of the Auckland Motor-Cycle Club in promoting this event, and recognises its potential importance, it is felt that an opportunity should be afforded riders in other parts to show what they can do."
