LORD MELCHETT'S CHANGE OF FAITH.

JEWISH RELIGION ACCEPTED. (Received July 15, 8.10 p.m.) LONDON, July 15. Lord Melchett, who, although he was of Jewish birth, has hitherto been a member of the Church of England, in which he was baptised, to-day embraced the Jewish faith, in the presence of two witnesses, at the North London Liberal Synagogue. The rabbi, who conducted the ceremony later stated that Lord Melchett's change of faith had no [political significance. Although he feels strongly about the persecution of the Jews by the Nazis, his change is not the outcome of that, but is due to his contact with the Jews and Palestine having led to the study of Judaism.
