Inaugurating a new method of "defending Nazi Germany against attacks from enemies abroad,'' the police arrested five relatives of Herr Schneidemann, the exiled socialist and former Chancellor. They were sent to a concentration camp as a warning to "slanderers." Herr Schniedemann is accused of trying to start a new atrocity campaign by articles published in America. The Cabinet has passed laws directed against Herr Schniedemann and other exiles decreeing that enemies of the State living abroad may forfeit their property and also lose their German citizenship if they refuse to return to Germany when summoned. Naturalised Germans may have their nationality revoked if it is deemed advisable. The formation of new parties is treason. Hand-shaking is now banned, in official orders prescribing the Nazi salute, which is given by raising the right arm, for all.

EIGHTEEN DUELS ON HAND. CHALLENGES TO NAZI LEADER. (Received July 16. 3.36 p.m.) BERLIN, July 15. Herr Ludwig Diels, who as chief of the Russian political police, is responsible for the arrest and detention in the concentration camps of at least 18,000 enemies of the Nazi regime, has been challenged to a mortal duel with pistols, by one prisoner; with sabres by six, with rapiers by 11. under the recently relaxed ban on duelling. Herr Diels has accepted all the challenges and will fight the duels immediately his opponents are released. NEWSPAPER OPPOSED TO HITLER.

PUBLICATION IN HOLLAND. (Received July 10, 8.10 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, July 15. A weekly newspaper, the "Freie Preisse," opposed to Fascism and to Herr Hitler, printed in German, will begin publication to-morrow. The editor and the staff are former members of the German left wing parties, and the contributors include Thomas and Heinrich Mann, Arnold and Stefan Zweig, and Dr. Lion Feuchtwnnger.
