LEADERS FOR N.Z.

FEW OF OUTSTANDING ABILITY. MAJOR W. NASH'S OPINION. (mOK OUR OWN CORJJESFONDEKT.) LONDON, June 9. Major William Nash, of the Cray Valley Paper Mills, St. Paul's Cray, has returned from a visit to Australia and New Zealand. In an interview published in the "Sidcup Times" Major Nash remarks: "Although a finer race of human beings than the New Zealanders would be hard to find, there are very few men*or women of outstanding ability and character available to lead the nation, either in politics or industrial offices. This may perhaps be due to the fact that, although the area of New Zealand is much the same as the British Isles, the population is little more than that of Glasgow or Birmingham. Another possible reason is that the New Zealand electorate is so democratically minded that even if men of outstanding ability and character were available it is doubtful if they would be considered 'representative of the people'."'
