MILK VENDOR'S DEATH.

CAR AND MOTOR-CYCLE OUTFIT COLLIDE. . ■ \ collision at the intersection of • > Bwley avenue and Victoria street at 215' yesterday morning between a jnQtor-cycle with sidecar attached and '' .a motor-car resulted in the death of the rider of the former vehicle, Harold ' Thomas Deans, a single man, aged 28, of Avondale, and injury to his passenger, Geoffrey Ollivier, the wellImown lawn tennis Player, a single /-. man, living at St. Martins. Ollivier. Miss Edmonds was returning east along Bealey avenue after driving some friends to their home. Both vehicles apparently swerved, but met at right-angles, the front left-hand mudguard of the car striking the motor-cycle and capsizing it. The machine finally came to rest on top of Deans, Ollivier having been thrown from the sidecar, apparently io to his head. Constable G. B. Wil*on, who was on duty not far away, : heard the crash, and, assisted by Miss / . JJdmonds, extricated Deans from the wreckage. Both Deans and OHivier were taken to the hospital in the am'j>ul3nce, but Deans died from his injuries at 11 o'clock yesterday morning. Ollivier was reported yesterday to be progressing satisfactorily. An inquest was opened before Mr - H. P. Lawry, coroner, yesterday afternoon, when, after evidence of identification had been taken, the enquiry was adjourned sine die. Sergeant L . T, Moore represented the police.
