ASSISTANT COLLECTOR OF RATES.
MANY SOLICITORS APPLY FOR POSITION. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, July 12. I More than 30 solicitors, many of whom are also barristers, were among more than 100 applicants to the Mount Eden Borough Council for the post of assistant rate collector at £5 weekly. Legal knowledge was required. Applicants wrote from all parts of the Dominion, and their ages ranged from 19 to 75. One said he knew all there was to know about the law, but had no experience. Another said he considered that only common sense was required, and he had plenty of that. A barrister and solicitor was appointed.
