HOCKEY.
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE*. Tho fortnightly meeting of the Canterbury Hockey Association was held last evening, Mr H. W. Rogers presiding. A letter was received from the Rugby Union stating that it had agreed to allow the hockey match, Southland v. Canterbury, to be played at Lancaster Park on August 19. The Nelson Association forwarded the following itinerary for its southern tour:—Buller, August 10; Canterbury, August 12; a Christchurch club August 14; Blenhcm, August 16. It was decided to accept the date proposed for the Canterbury v. Nelson match. Mr L. F. N. Ward drew attention to the shortage of referees for schoolboys' matches at Hagley Park and asked that all clubs be asked to supply referees for the games. Advice was received from the New Zealand Hockey Association that the inter-Island match would be played in Nelson on September 2, and asking for nominations of players and referees willing to travel. The competitions committee reported that there would be a redraw in the third and fourth grades after the end of the first round. Mr 11. S. J. Goodman was appointed as the association's solicitor.
ELLES.MERE LADIES' SUBASSOCIATION. Mrs T. A. .Stephens presided at a meetine of tho Kllesmere T.ndies' Hockey SubAssociation, held at Irwell. A protest regarding the Southbridge-Dun-sandel A grade match ivas sustained, and :is the teams were willing it was decided to play tho match again. It was agreed to play a third round in the B grade competition. August 5 was the date chosen for the annual six-a-side tournament, and it was decided that cups should be awarded to the winners. The arrangements were left in the hands of the secretary of the association and tho officials of the Irwell Club. A motion by the secretary that clubs playing more than one team should be allowed an extra delegate' was negatived.
