Auckland —Ideal sunny weather • prevailed yesterday. Despite a light southerly wind, the conditions were remarkably mild. The barometer continued to rise, and registered 30.45 in last evening. * Wellington—After a cold morning, the sun shone brightly all day in Wellington yesterday.. There was a light drift, from the north. The evening was clear and cold. Dunedin—Fine but cloudy weather was experienced in Dunedin yesterday. Following a cold night and seven degrees of frost, there was sunshine in the* morning. The barometer showed little movement, and registered 30.80 in last night FORECAST. <From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General situation—An intense anticyclone extends from New Zealand towards Eastern Australia. A shallow westerly depression is advancing along the «>uth coast of Australia.
Winds—South-easterlies prevailing north of Kawhia and Napier, and elsewhere northerlies, light to moderate in most places, but freshening in the far south. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Smooth to moderate. ~ Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to fresh northerly winds; seas smooth to moderate.
