CHRISTCHURCH HUNT.

MKKT AT ASHBIKTO.V Another large field attended the meet of the Christchurch Hunt at the Ash burton aerodrome yesterday. If the enthusiasm shown this season continues it augurs well for the future of hunting in Ashburtx.n County, and next season should see an increase in the number of hunting days for local followers. The only drawback to an otherwise enjoyable outing was the extraordinary number of hares. Hound;: were continually putting up fiesh hares, which made it impossible for the huntsman to keep them on to the line. A start was made at the aerodrome, and a hare went away across the road on to Mr J. Sims's property. Hounds were in full cry as the field swung down the road towards Fairfield and then turned to the right across a padclock of green oats. Here three fresh hares got up and made in different directions. One was hunted right to Mr Sims's homestead, but was lost in the plantation. A move was then made to a paddock on the Newlands road and another short run took place towards Seafield. The hare swung righthanded across the farm of Mr Pearce and doubled back across the Seafield rood, but the field was stopped at the Alill Creek on the propcrtv of Mr Cochrane. Hares were everywhere, and at one time as many as five were running in the same paddock. Another fairly good run took place en Mr Pearce's farm, but the going was very stony, and shortly afterwards the hounds were packed up and returned to Ashburton. Mr A. N. Grigg acted as master. The final hunt of the season will be held to-morrow, commencing from Stringfcllow's corner on the Mitcham road
