Advice was received that steps were being taken to form a cycling centre ■ in Ota go. I A recommendation to the cycling emferencc that the New Zealand championship road race, of 100 miles, be altered to a 300 kilometre time trial was adopted. The West Coast ■'North Island; Centre will control the race. A motion was passed recommending I that a cyclist be included in the next | team of Australian athletes invited to i lour New Zealand. j Recognition was granted in respect of R. E. Ulmer's grass track record of b< seconds in the half-mile cycle event at the Basin Reserve on March 4. Charles McAlister (Christchurch) and A. .7. Pcrcival 'Wellington) were ganled reinstatement as amateur riders. Some discussion was caused by an application for affiliation from the Auckland Ladies' Amateur Cycling Club. Mr G. Harrison said the club was not a new departure. He had formed a chib 11 years ago; but affiliation had been refused, as it was considered too dangerous a sport for women. "Personally,"' Mr Harrison obscved, "J think it is no more detrimental to women than it is to men. These clubs have made great strides in England." Mr H. D. Bennett: It is a departure that should not be encouraged.
The chairman (Mr H. I. Austad): The whole aspect depends on how far the competitive clement enters into it. It was decided to hold the application over till the next meeting for further consideration.

At a meeting of delegates representing Dunedin, Invercargill, and the country districts of Otago and Southland, it was decided to form an Otago amateur cycling centre. LEAGUE OF WHEELMEN. The first meeting of the tentative council of the newly formed League of New Zealand Amateur Wheelmen was held on Monday evening. Mr J. Sturrock prsided, and others present were Messrs \V. Haves, J. Quill, G. Wheeler, G. Kilpatrick, F. E. Pearl, and T. A. Grose. Mr W. Hayes was elected president, Mr J. Sturrock chairman of the committee, and Mr F. E. Pearl secretary. A letter was received from 35 active and interested Rangiora cyclists advising that it was their intention to form an amateur cycling club in Rangiora. and to affiliate with the league. The chairman said it was very encouraging to receive the letter. It spoke well for the success of the league. The secretary was instructed to make application to the cycling federation for affiliation, and asking that the matter be treated as urgent. Mr Sturrock was asked to draft a specimen copy of rules for consideration at next meeting.
