At present the •Lyttelton Harbour Board contributes about £6OO to the Christchurch City Council towards the cost of the biennial election of the board, which the council conducts in conjunction with the other municipal elections. According to a report of the recent Municipal Conference which was laid before the council last night a remit was carried to the effect that instead of paying in proportion to the number of vacancies to be filled (4-29ths), the board should pay according to the number of issues to be submitted to the electors (l-4th). The more general questions dealt with at the conference which were also discussed in the statement have already been reported in the New Zealand press.
