♦ CLOSING OF ROLLS. For the elections for seats on th« Christchurch Drainage Board, to take place on January 31, the rolls for the North-East Christchurcb, Sydenham, iind Heathcote sub-districts—the only ones in which there are contests —closed vesterday. If the number of enrolment* since the nominations closed on December 2, 1932, is any indication the greatest interest is in the contest for th« Heathcote sub-district, where Mr H. Hill, the sitting member, is being opposed by Mr 11. Carter. On the Heathcote sub-district main roll the number of electors was 2284, ;i total that has been increased by 1000 by enrolments on the supplementary roll. On the main roll for the NorthKast Christehurcb sub-district, where Mr W. R. Carey is being opposed by the Labour candidate, Mr J. Matbison, the main roll total of 1791 has. been increased by 250 by the enrolments on the supplementary roll. In the Sydenham sub-district, where Mr W. C. Large is being opposed by the Labour candidate, Mr A. J. BeaucLimp, the main roll total of 4G09 has been increased by 100 by enrolments on the supplementary roll. In the Board's other nine sub-dis-tricts no contests are taking place, the sitting members having been returned unopposed
