SIR ARTHUR PEARSON FUND
The Christchurch committee of the Sir Arthur Pearson Fund for ther Blind met yesterday afternoon, Mr H, -Holland, M.P., presiding. Mr Clutha N.,Mackenzie, Director of the Jubilee Institute for tlie Blind, Auckland, wrote detailing the arrangements made for the return of =sir Carlo Bartoiomeo Guabeilo, of Christchurch, to Genoa, Italy. S- Wharton) forwarded £6, a grant from the Board for pocket money during the passage. It was reported that the Christchurch committee had equipped him with the necessary clothing--- - Several letters from blind peopk' were received thanking the. committee for grants for clothing and other necessities. A grant was made to a woman who has been nursing her blind, brother for fourteen years to permit her to take a much needed holiday. Regarding the departure of a "lino man from the Jubilee Institute for the Blind,. Auckland, for his home i» Christchurch, Mr Mackenzie wrote r—"He has mad© good use of his stay here, and has learned to type. He is taking back with him a typewriter which, has been given to him as a grant from the Pearson Fund at the cost of £lO. He has also learned «» use of Braille playing cards, and the draughts board.
