VALUELESS CHEQUES.
SIX MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT. U-l'X.iS ASSOCIATION •rKT.EiiU.V.^.' WELLINGTON. December 11. Cyril Thomas Millar. -3, was sentenced Lv Mr E. Page, S.M.. to-day to six months imprisonment for fraudulently obtaining money by means ot valueless chorine*. The cheques were uttered bv an acquaintance, who was recently discharged from prison. The nipu hired a car for the purpose of leaving Wellington. but ran into a pole at Porirua. Accused was injured in the head. His companion was arrested, and alter appearing; in court was sent to a mental hospital. Counsel for accused said there appeared to be very little to be said in his favour, but "there seemed to be some truth in the assertion that his downfall was due to the fact that he got in touch with the man who was sent to a mental hospital.
