A representative of tiie oompauk-s said yesterday Hint the quantity of stock coining forward was increasing slightly day by day, and the chain system was now in operation iu at least three ivorks—C.F.M.C. and Bortliwick's, at Belfast, and the Islington works, though there were solo workers there also. In departments other than slaughtering, the workers wore about 90 per cent, union men, meeting of the Canterbury Freezing 'Workers' Union was held in the Trades Hall last evening, about 300 members being present. It was reported after the meeting that tlio whole position had been fully discussed, and that the men were as firm as ever iu their resolve to resist the employors' proposals, there being no hint of a resolution that the men should offer for work.
