CABINET CONFERS WITH BANKS.
ECONOMIC SITUATION. I BUSY DAYS FOR MINISTERS. I I [THE PEBSB Special Service] WELLINGTON, December 13. Cabinet had two long sittings to-day, in the afternoon and evening, and it is expected that Ministors will have to work long hours, combining frequent Cabinet discussions with their Departmental administration duties, up till the Christmas holidays. At the afternoon meeting of Cabinet to-day representatives of the Associated Banks were present, and although no official information as to the proceedings is available, it is believed that the bankers and Ministers had a full and fiank discussion on the general economic situation, with the view to the preparation of possible further emergency legislation. It is understood that the members of the Economists' Commission are to be asked to meet again in Wellington, and Dr Hight, rector of Canterbury College and chairman of tho Commission, and Professor Tockcr, of Canterbury College, are arriving from the south m the morning.
