MAGISTERIAL. THURSDAY. (Before ilr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) BOOKMAKER PINED. A charge of bookmaking vras made against John Harris Priak, aged 29, of Christchurch, a motor driver. Accused pleaded not guilty, but after evidence had been given by the police a plea of guilty was substituted. Detective-Sergeant E. V. O'Brien gav« evidence of watching accused during the trots at Addington on August Sth, and then arresting him. Corroborative evidence was given by Detective J. J, Halcrow. Chief-Detective Carroll said that accused was only operating in a very small way and nothing was known against him. A fine of jEIO and costs was imposed. Accused was allowed one nionfii in which to pay. WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS. Fred Holland fc who made a voluntary appearance, was fined 103 and cosls for drivinjf a motor-car in Cathedral equare without headlights.
