SHEEPOWNERS.
CANTERBURY UNION. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The thirtieth annual meeting of the Canterbury Sheepowners' Union; was held at the Canterbury A. and P. Association's" rooms last night. The president (Mr E. Hay) was in the chair. The adoption of the report and bal-ance-sheet, extracts from which are printed elsewhere, was moved by Mr Hay. In his address he said that during the past'year the union had maintained its prestige, and fully justified its existence. He urged the necessity that a strong membership should be maintained, so that sheepowners' interests in the district might be adequately safeguarded. He commended the efforts of the committee during the past year, and thanked members of the union for the confidence they expressed in him by proposing his re-election as president. Mr Hay's full address is reported at length elsewhere in this issue. The motion was seconded by Mr Bernard Tripp. He congratulated the president and his committee on their work during the past year, and truste 1 that by the end of the coming year they would all have a brighter outlook. The report and balance-sheet wore adopted unanimously. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted S3 follows: —President, Mr E. Hay; vicepresident, Mr George Murray; committee, Messrs H. Acton-Adams, W. M. Acton-Adams, W. Hanmer Atkinson, R. Bethell, E. P. Hi Burbury, F. H. Courage, J. F. Cracroft Wilson, Douglas Deans, Sholto Douglas, H. Elworthy, O. Fulton, L. C. Gardiner, A. N. Grigg, C. H. Grigg, L. R. Q. Macfarlane, Bruce Murray, Ueorjre Murray, F. Peter, -T. C. Robinson, and G. O. Rutherford; hou. treasurer, Mr H. D. Acland; auditor, Mr A. McKellar. A motion of thanks to "Mr H. D. Acland, the secretary (Mr W.H. Nicholson) and the staff was proposed by- the chairman, and carried unanimously. A motion of thanks was passed to the chairman.
