A COLONIAL JUDGE.
APPOINTMENT AS CHIEF JUSTICE. (Bnmsn omciu wikslxss.) (Received August 9th, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, August 8. The King has appointed Mr Robert W. Lyall Grant Puisne Justice of Ceylon, to be Chief Justice of Jamaica in succession to Sir Fiennes Barrett Lennard. [Mr Robert William Lyall Grant, M.A., LL.D., T.D., who was born in Aberdeen on September 10 th, 1875, has been Puisne Justice of Ceylon Bince 1926. He was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School, and was cal'"d to the Scottish Bar in 1903. He was AttorneyGeneral of Nyassaland in 1909, then a High Court Judge in 1914. In 1920 he was Attorney-General in Kenya.]
