CITY WATER SUPPLY.

10 THE EDITOR OT TUB THESS. Sir, —I have been aggrieved by these extraordinary water charges for a few years, and have paid several of them; but the 1931 account for £3 Cs, accusing me of using 91,000 gallons of water for a small home and two adults —250 gallons of water a day—appeared to me to be out of all reason. I was officially informed that this meter was a mystery to all-the officers, .but an attempt would be made to get to the bottom of it. Then the next accountcame, for £2 15s. I sent the council a cheque for £3 10s on account, thinking that the meter would be removed or the account adjusted. My rates were paid on the due date, and £3 10s of this £6 was paid in July on account of the extraordinary water rate, pending something being done with the meter. In the face of this the council cut the water off. I was away from home. My wife appealed to the Town Clerk to stay his hand till I came back. But the water was cut off and a woman and two small children were left without hot water or a sanitary service for Ave days.—Yours, etc., STILL A VICTIM. August Bth, 1932.
