BOROUGH COUNCILS
JvAIAPOL The fortnightly meeting of the Kaiapol Borough Council was held last night. Present: The Mayor (the Rev. W. H. A. Vickery), Crs A. E. Brown. C. M. Williams, SI. Ramsay. F. Thorne, J. W. Barnard, H. Rinaldi, J. D. Williams, R. J. Dunn, and A Linklater _ Mr E Read wrote applying for permission to erect a ticket lobby in front of the Orange Hall. Permission was granted subject to the borough by-laws. The organiser of the Canterbury Progress League wrote applying for a renewal of the Council's financial support towards the league funds. Tho usual annual grant was made. The Rev. C. L. Sparrow wrote offering a quantity of firewood for The letter was referred to the Unemployment Relief Committee. It was decided' to call tenders for completing the cleaning of Mcintosh's drain. Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of Mr F. Ellenberger (a member of the council staff) and with Mr A. Wells Newton, clerk to the Eyre County Council, in the death of his wife. ' Tho financial statement showed receipts since last meeting £417 lis 4d. debit bank balance £1475 15s 6d, accounts -passed for payment £3lB 7s.
