WINTER SHOW.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR COUNTRY VISITORS. School children continued to visit and enjoy Iho Winter Show yesterday, when groups from Waimairi, Mount Pleasant, and Cathedral Convent attended in the morning, and groups from Belfast, Elmwood, Somcrfield, Phillipstown, and Marist Brothers in the afternoon. They totalled in all 1810. The scholars were welcomed by Mr Is. H. Marriner, who briefly outlined to them the purposes of the show. Teachers have been asked to make arrangements for their pupils to write essays on their impressions of the show, and to the boy and girl in each standard writing the best essay, certificates will be awarded. Invitations have been issued to the orphanages in Christchurch to attend on Saturday morning, and it is expected that some 350 children will bo then present. They will bo entertained by members of the executive. West Coast Visitors. Approximately 200 school children will attend next week from the West Coast. Two parties will come, one arriving on Tuesday and returning on Thursday, another arriving on Thursday and leaving the following Tuesday. Mj E. H. Mnrriner, the show organiser, said yesterday that accommodation would have to be arranged for these visitors. However, in view of the excellent response made by. citizens last year, It is not expected that there will be any lack of offers in this respect. The entertainment programme for the day included the Robot and a Punch ana Judy pantomime in the afternoon, and the Christchurch Municipal Band, the Robot again, and Mr Musson's gymnastic pupils in the evening. To-day's programme will be as follows:—10.30 Robot; 2.30 p.m., Punch and Judy pantomime; 2.45 p.m., Robot; 3 p.m., mannequin parade; 7.30 p.m., Derry's Band; 8.30 p.m., Miss B. Macdonahl's pupils; Derry's Band. The Robot, which has been attracting, a great deal of attention, will not be on show after this week, since arrangements have been made for it to be shown' in Auckland next week. Yesterday's attendance returns, show that 3050 adults and 560 children (exclusive of school children) attended. Prizes in connexion with the competitions of the North Canterbury Boys' and Girls' Agricultural Clubs will be presented at the Winter Show at 2 p.m. to-day by Mr W. J. Jenkins, president of the Canterbury A. and P. Association.
