SOUTH AFRICAN WAR.
VETERANS' ASSOCIATIONS REPORT. The annual report of the South African War Veterans' Association, to be presented at its conference to-day, reviews the activities .of th& association daring the past year. Ho balance-sheet is presented, bnt this will be ready in time for the conference. Concerning the reduction of pensions by the Government, the report, states that the number of South African War pensioners is 88, and that it wsnld &&▼« been a graceful act on the part of the' Government to" have left their pension* idtonehed. The official history of the South African War is now, completed, and the illustrations have been selected. A synopsis is shortly to be issued. The history is-understood to contain a complete list of the names of all Contingentera, about 400 pages, and 40 illustrations, and the approximate price will be 10s <?d. The printing of the history will depend largely on the number ordered by members of the association. * The report refers to the arrangement whereby Flock House is open to the sons of South African veterans, to the South African bell provided for the 'WeHing.ton War Memorial Carillon, and to the work of the recent. Beturned Soldiers' Association. GooferenQe for the veterans. The death of the Bev. D. Putton, vice-president of the association, is also notedThe conference, whisb opens at 1X a.m. to-day, will bo officially opened by the Hon. Sir Beaton Bhqcles, who is himself a South African veteran. He will extend a welcome to,the visiting delegates.
