MT. COOK CHAMPIONSHIPS. RECORD MEETINGS PLANNED IN AUGUST. The inter-club ski-insr, contests whicti are to be held at Mount Cook nest month, and which will be followed immediately by the Aorangi Ski Championship meeting, promise to be the most representative ski ©vents ever held in New Zealand, and in view ot the fact that the conditions for sport at Mount Cook are reported to have been "wonderfully improved by heavy falls of snow this week,.it is anticipated that especial interest will attacn to the contests. Arrangements have now been completed for an inter-club winter sports meeting, to be held at Mount Cook on August 26th and 27th. The Christchurch Ski Club, the Canterbury w inter Sports Club, the Aorangi bp Club (Wellington), and the iasman £>ki Club (Timaru) are each sending strong teams. The Christchurch clubs will be leaving Christchurch on August 20th, and will proceed direct to tne Ball Hut, where. ample accommodation has been arranged. The Aorangi Ski Championship meeting follows on August 29th, 30th, and 31st, and it is expected that a great many of those who go to the mtei ■ club championships will stay tne iew extra days to contest the Aorang titles also. Thus two of the most rep resentative meetings ever held in New Zealand are promised at Mount Cook next month, as for the Aorangi Championships it is expected that there be a strong Australian team comreceived yesterday stated that a heavy fall of snow had been recorded around the Ball Hut region.
