OLYMPIC GAMES.
NEW ZEALANDERS' CHANCES. THE TEAM REVIEWED. (Received July 30th, 12.30 a.m.) LOS ANGELES, July 29. At the virtual conclusion of a period of hard and determined practice, the representatives of the Australian Press Association, in a survey, find that the Australian and New Zealand Olympiad participants generally are in good condition with reasonably fair prospects of winning their share of the honours. The New Zealander, Elliot, has bee recording good trials, but Golding s Black's chances have been retarded ow ing to injuries. They are also facing the" strongest opposition, but has an excellent chance in the 15UU m Savidan is regarded as distance man and is conceded_ a good chance in the 10,000 metres. The, New Zealand rowers have the material advantage of long training on the course, ■which is a most unusual one.
nurmfs entry rejected. NO REASON STATED. (Received July 29th, 9.50 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, July *2B. The International Amateur Athletic Federation late on Thursday voted to bar Paavo Nurmi, of Finland, from the Olympic Games, and rejected his entry. The question of declaring Nurmi a professional did not enter into the action of the Commission, which merely rejected his entry on what it considered good and sufficient grounds, ana closed the case.
