FRESH AWARDS.
ENGINEERING TRADE DISPUTE. As a result of the recent breakdown in conciliation proceedings in connexion with the dispute of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers and Allied Trades, it is now proposed that the engineers, hoilermakers, and moulders should make- application for separate awards. In accordance with the amendments to tiie Industrial, Conciliation, and Arbitration Act, the award covering these workers lapsed a week or two ago, and for some time they have been considering the bsst means to adopt to secure fresh awards. Before the Inst award was framed each section of the engineering trade operated under separate awards, and it is now proposed to return to that basis.
