METHODIST LADIES' GUILD. The annual meeting of the Methodist Ladies' Guild was held, on Thursday afternoon in the Methodist Sunday Schoolroom. The Eev. A. Hopper presided, and congratulated the Guild on its work during the year. The trust funds had' benefited by £43, "and the circuit fund by £lO through the efforts of the Guild. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £l6 6s. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs A. E. Haynes; vice-presidents, Mesdames Elliott, Frampton, Quigley, and Hopper; secretary, Mrs Baynes; treasurer, Mrs Tillman; Social Committee, Mesdames Salkeld and Hopper; Parsonage Committee, Mesdames Gibson, Carr, Thwaites, and Frampton. The following committee was appointed to draw up a syllabus for the year:—Mesdames Haynes, Baynes, Hopper, and Gibson, Northcote News. The Advance Northcote Association | met on Tuesday evening, Mr E. Field- : ing presiding over a good attendance. The chairman reported that he and the secretary (Mr T. Wood) had interviewed Mr M. J. Barnett, City Superintendent of Parks, and he had agreed to visit Northcote this morning to advise the Association as to the best layout for the proposed park. The State Advances Department wrote asking for details in connexion with the management of the social hall. The secretary was instructed to supply the information asked for. At the conclusion of the business cards were played, and the winners were Mrs Condon and Mr S. Munro. Maori Concert. The Maori Mission Party, under the leadership of Mr Ari, Pitama gave a concert in St. Paul's Schoolroom on Thursday evening. Prior to the items, Mr Pitama gave an address on the primitive Maori life, explaining the meaning and origin of the various poi dances and habeas. Those contributing items were: Mr Tame Naira (Botorua) led the liakas and Mr Apuro Maika (Eotorua) was the instrumentalist; Miss Te Mauri Meihana (Botorua) was the soloist. Other performers were— Migses Moana Rika (Botorua), Dovey Katine (Wellington), Bangi Nini Waaka (Whakatane), Hutika Pitama (Canterbury). Messrs Tuhaka Kapu, Apuro Maika, Hirona Wikirhvhi. A novelty item that was greatly enjoyed was the haka given by the women. Social Evening. _ A nulnber of St. Silas 's Church friends entertained at a social evening on Wednesday by Mrs Mottram, Preston's road. Games, competitions, and musical items were enjoyed. Among those present were Mr and Mrs Mottram, Mr and Mrs G. Ailington, Mr and Mrs J. Barnes, Mr and Mrs A. Chaney, Mr and Mrs L. Lavender, Mrand Mrs Price, Mr and Mrs Leadbetter, Merdames Orbell, Marwick, and Donaldson (2), Misses Ailington (2), and Orbell, Messrs Jones, B. . Grimwoo'd, and Lavender. Personal. Mrs A. Symc, Paparoa street, left on Monday for a holiday in Australia. She will visit friends in Sydney and Melbourne.

Football Sauce. The Papanui Bugby Football Club held a dance in- the Memorial Hall last evening. Music was supplied by Leg-, gett's Orchestra, and extras were played by Mr H. Smallbon. Mr Boy Watson was M.C. The women's committee responsible for the supper arrangements were: Mesdames J. Fantham, Warren, Hadley, Bielbv, ShUrroek, Morrison, Spiers, Moore, and Miss F. Fanjham.
