DOMAINS BOARD.

PARKS AND GARDENS. Tho Christchurch Domains Board met yesterday, when formal business was conducted. Present were: —Mr H. Kitson (chairman), the Hon. D. Buddo, M.L.C., Messrs G. Harper, F. George, B. B. Owen, D. G. Sullivan, M.P., W. H. Winsor, M. E. Lyons, , and S. A. Orchard. The Curator of the Gardens (Mr J. Young) reported on the work done, which included building a new stokehold for the propagating houses, and felling trees on the old acclimatisation ground near the Hospital.' All general garden operations in the various departments were well forward. The footpaths in the South Park would receive a dressing of fine screenings next week. A request from the Hockey Association to take up a collection at its matches to-day, toward the cost of repairs and extensions to the pavilion, was granted, a condition being that- the collectors should not be placed near the gates, but only in the vicinity'of the matches. A request from the secretary of the Amberley Domains Board for shrubs to plant in the Amberley Domain was referred to the Parks and Gardens Committee with power to act. A similar request from the Lincoln Domain Board was also referred to the Parks and Gardens Committee. A letter was' received from the -Town Clerk'fixing the levy to.be paid by the Christchurch City Council for the current year at £-2401 5s Bd. Accounts amounting to £lOl 2s 10a were passed for payment. Mr B. B. Owen said- that he would like to direct the attention of the Parks and Gardens Committee to a recommendation of the committee of two years ago that the trees in Rolleston avenue, near Christ's College, should be lopped. Some of them were danger ous, and the bus in passing was sewped by some of the limbs. The chairman of the committee (Mr F.- George) said that the matter was already in hand.
