THE EXHIBITS. I (lama macle the best classes at. some early Christchurch shows, and of all the breeds then shown it is the only one that continues in favour, and the noble old breed was well represented in yesterday's show. In-the utility section, the Leghorns venj' -fiflo classes, and it would be harf-to find anywhere such a wellbduittd.lot. Among thenx were two buff Leghorns, the first seen at a ChrisbAatcit show for some time, out in ffir .iifeies buff Leg'uorns made g>jod Minoreas were again Orpingtons drew a stim~j@rogSut' miißed- in- l»*|>e,' aU sev'rtral birds full of Orpingtons were few, Tslttnd?jS^f"i of £db type • and c6louT, cxVra fine in a number of specimens. The Sussex appear to be slipping.back, there being fflrif' Lights than usual, but a pair oT Speckled were attractive. There TO a championship for that fine old breed, L-angshan,' which it is to bo ngretted only drew fivo entries fi'om m exhibitor. Ducks failed to draw that competition which their merits deserve, but the*-few —Pekin, Indian Runner, and Khaki-Campbells—were very good. The Breeders' Challenge Stakes classes made a fine start at this show, and doubtless the second year will see still better displays. Lite . pigeon section was very mterejiiifg. The frills were better than usual, a black Turbit being about the ix«t. The Fantails on a whole were TBty fine, and all the Nuns were firstclass. The four varieties of cleantgged Self Tumblers wero as usual at tills show well represented, and the display of Baldheads .was really splendid. ■■ There were also some fine 'bine Hid? in the clean-legged. section. The Whitesides shown were . very attracshould have scored much Ixitof. There were only, a few. Muff Tuublers on exhibition, and they were gW)3 ones. Magpies and Jacobins fair, perhaps two extra good ones a'the Jot. The classes for racing pigMtyS were not so well' filled as usually is the case, but an entry of war 260 raad& a very good collection. /Sl9'canaries were disappointing both i& quality and numbers, but the other of cage birds made a much betdisplay than, last year.
