KING'S BIRTHDAY.

MANY SPORTS FIXTURES. To-day's public holiday, in honour of the sixty-seventh birthday of King George V., will offer almost unlimited attractions to sportsmen and followers of outdoor pursuits. The long list of sports fixtures includes the Canterbury Park Trotting Club's Meeting at Addingtou, a round of the Canterbury Rugby Union's competitions, tho annual live-a-side and six-a-side men's and women's hockey tournaments at Ilagley Park, and the annual Yorksliiro v. Lancashire Association football match at English Park. Heading the attractions for golfers is the open tournament conducted by the Russley Club. Tho other Christehurcli clubs are also holding holiday matches for the benefit of their members. Provided the weather remains tine trampers will bo able to enjoy an excellent week-end. Tho Railway Department is again running an excursion to Otira. The Canterbury Aero Club will take advantage of the holiday to hold short passenger ilights from tho Wigrani Aerodrome. Tho instructor, Mr J. C. Mercer, will- bo in attendance all day to take up all who wish to make trips in the club's aeroplanes.
