TEACHERS' SALARIES.
—■—# ■■-.. i" INCREMENTS TQ BE PAID. Teachers' annual increments, in common with those of the rest of the Pnblic Service, are to bo paid as from February Ist, according to advice received by -the Canterbury Education Board from the Minister for Education (the Hon. R. Masters). " While the Government was considering the possible non-payment of these increments this year, the additional amounts which fell due from that date were not paid, and the payments will now have to be retrospective. The calculation of the sums to be paid has given members of the Board's staff a lot of work, for on amounts due before April Ist a 10 per cent, reduction has to be made, while on the remainder there is the additional graduated reduction which became effective on that date.
