ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.

COMMITTEE MEETING. The General Committee of the Canterbury and West Coast Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association met last evening. Dr. J. R. Thomas (chairman), Mesdames SL A. Watkins and A. Bishop, his Lordship Bishop Brodie, Lieutenant-Colonel F. B. Creswell, Colonel F. W. W. Dawson, Dr. F. J..Borrie, Dr. M. G. Louisson, Messrs H. L. Bowker, F. Rudd, J.. Dickson, G. Peek, •E. H. Marriner, F. J. Ash worth, P. Taylor, and C. J. Treleaven (secretary). The report of Invalid Transport, which stated that in the month of April 163 calls had been answered, costing £6B 18s 9d, less donations £4 16s 9d — net cost £64 2s—was adopted^ The financial statement showed receipts for the month, together with credit balance at bank on April 18th, £lB4 12s sd, and payments amounting to' £lB3 2s 4d, leaving a credit balance at bank of £1 10s Id. • Banks Peninsula Eacing Club. Mr Bowker reported having interviewed the secretary of the Banks Peninsula Racing Club on the subject of adequate recognition being given the Association for its work at race meetings of the club. The secretary said he would put the request of the Association before his committee at its next meeting. There would' be no trouble about providing the Association 's officers with lunch tickets. A member interjected that it. was train tickets that were wanted chiefly. Continuing his report, Mt Bowker said that the question of linking up the racecourse with the telephone would also be considered. The chairman said that if a donation was received from the club there would not be much need to bother about the other matters. Mr Bowker was thanked for the report, and ho was requested to continue his negotiations.

First-aid Outfits.

The secretary laid before the committee a letter that had' come into his hands from the Automobile Association, Ldndon,. which gave details of a scheme at present operating in England, where all the Automobile Association telephone boxes were equipped with firstaid outfits. The chairman said that the population of New Zealand hardly Buch a scheme being put in operation here. Mr Peek said that it was possible that in the a future, during holiday periods, the' brigade would have an officer patrolling the main roads. He would probably collaborate with the local Automobile Association.
