HARBOURED ESCAPEE FROM PRISON. 7 ASSOCIATION TBLBGfi-L*.) AUCKLAND, May % A charge of knowingly harbouring a prisoner, Frederick William Schluter, who escaped from Mt. Eden prison on April 30th and is still at large, was brought against a fruiterer named Alexander Mason, 30. in the Magistrate's Court. The Prosecutor said Mason had been employing Schluter's wife as a housekeeper. and Schlliter went to Mason s bouse after his escape and . stayed there till May 15th,- when there was ft row, and Mason told him to go. Mason was a decent man, who had never beeti in trouble before. ' Counsel said Mason now realised what he had done and regretted it very much, but his heart bad run awav with his head. The Magistrate, Mr F. K. Hunt, imposed a fine of £lO. or two months imprisonment.
