SUMNER DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
The following were present at the first meeting of the Sumner District High School Committee:—Mr G. <s. McKenzie (chairman), Mesdames Murdoch and Pye, and Messrs H. L. Fee, H. C. Ford, J. Browne, T. Cook, L. Brian, W. H. Odell, and tho headmaster, Mr H. M. Stevens. The following sub-committees were appointed:—Grounds. Messrs L. Brian, H. C. Ford, and T. Cook; social, Mesdames Murdoch and Pye, and Messrs H. C. Ford and J. Browne; visiting, Mesdames Murdoch and Pye; dental clinic, Messrs H. L. Fee, W. H. Odell, and H. M. Stevens; delegates to the School Committees' Association, Messrs H. C. Ford and W. H. Odell. ' The headmaster's report showed the roll numbers as follows -.—Primary 300, secondary 46. . After considering the applications for caretaker, Mrs M. Fenton was appointed subject to the usual schedule of duties being aereed to. A. report upon the ground improvements was made by Messrs McKenzie and Stevens. It was agreed to support the proposal of the Social Committee to hold a series of card evenings in aid of the funds.
