PERSONAL. OrSCIAL TO TUB PBESS.) GRETMOUTH, May 10. Mr W. M. Tyers, who has been visiting Greymouth, returned yesterday to Chriatchurch. Mr and Mrs G. Beck (Timarn) are visiting the West Coast. Miss J. F. Johnston arrived to-day from Dunedin on a visit to relatives in Greymouth. . Mr R. C. Gallop, who has been appointed to the staff of the Invercargill South School, left to-day for Invercargill. Mrs ,W. Ryan and Miss M; Ryan left to-day on a;Visit to Christchurch. Mr Mac. Levestam (Wesjport) left to-day for Christchurch, tv-here his marriage to Miss Watt is to take place in a few days. Miss Evelyn Boddy, who has been a member of the staff of Inksters, Ltd., for the past five years, and has resigned in view of her approaching marriage, was met on Saturday evening and presented by the staff with a travelling rug, a cheque from the firm, and table linen from Mrs Inkster. Prospector's Adventure. ■■' A prospector, Harry Campbell, got lost in the bush at the back of Kaiata on Sunday, and after a considerable walk through dense bush, managed to work his way to Boddytown, where he struck open ground. A search party, under Constable Hay, was detailed to search the bush. After a four hours' search they learned of Mr Campbell being safe. i Magistrate's Court. A sitting of the Greymouth Magistrate's Court was held yesterday, Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., presiding. The licensee of the Cosmopolitan Hotel, P. G. Lowe, was fined &2 and costs 10s for selling liquor after hours on April 9th. John Donaldson was fined 10s and costs for riding a motor-cycle without having a license. He was also fined £2 and costs for riding at a speed dangerous to the public. A charge of sheep-stealing was preferred against F. Reidy, the allegation being that he stole a pheep valued at 12s (3d, the property of J. Pamment. of Kumara. After hearing the the Magistrate held there was a doubt, and gave the benefit of it to defendant, dismissing the charge. Competitions. The Westland Competitions Festival was continued yesterday at Hokitika, when there was a fair attendance and some interesting competitions, especially among the dancing sections.
