SALARY ADJUSTMENTS. fPRESS ASSOCIATiON' TiLjDGSAii") "~ WELLINGTON, April 15. The Government's intentions regarding the payment of the April salaries of public servants was indicated to the House to-day by the Et. Hon. G. W. Forbes in reply to an urgent question. Mr Forbes said that the Bill provided for the salary adjustments to operate from April Ist on the same principle as vvaa adopted last year. Pending the final decision as to the graduated scales of redactions all Departments wero instructed last month that respecting the first half of the month the salary abstracts were to be prepared at the'then current rates of pay and that adjustments arising out of the reductions as decided upon would be made in the abstracts for _the second half of April." Arrangements were in hand for this procedure to apply so as to avoid so far as possible any delays in payment or hardship occasioned by the delayed adjustment.
