SYDENHAM PUBLIC LIBRARY.
At the monthly meeting of the committee of the Sydenham Public Library the president, Mr C. Pollard, presided The librarian reported the purchase of 123 books. Tho Christclmrch City Council acknowledged receipt of the balance-sheets and congratulated the committee upon the successful manner in which its 'operations had been carried out. It was agreed that No. 2 billiard table be put in order, at a cost of £33, and that £ls be spent on new books. The following were appointed as a sports committee: Messrs F. Kent, U. Hannah, J. Hales, C. Small, W. Smith, H. Hogarth, and 4. Vivian, and the secretary. Tournaments for the winter months will commence on April 28th. Mr Kirton's report of the formation ct' a children's section was adopted, and it was agreed lo make a public appeal for suitable books.
