Thomas, of Paeroa, was fined £2O on each of two charges ot tampering with the Thames Vjilley Electric Power Board's lines and fraudulently extracting power. The defendant, by an ingenious contrivance, caused a circuit cutting out the meter. To avoid detection » special switch, operated by pulling a cord at defendant's desk, caused the electricity to pass through the meter should Power Board officials arrive to inspect it. Counsel for tho Power, Board stated that it was estimated the Board was losing £3OOO a year by thefts. ... Defendant is manager of the \\ aihiPaeroa Transport Company.
